Sugar Moon

Elli Varas (vocals, guitar, musical saw) Kyra Holt (vocals, banjo) and Christie Murman (fiddle) make up the all-gal bluegrass trio Sugar Moon. As part of the Colorado bluegrass scene, Sugar Moon is unique in their makeup: the three core members are all women, and in such a male-dominated genre their music is undeniably feminine — both in the musical aesthetic and lyrical themes. Gaining momentum up and down the front range, they were finalists in the Ullrgrass Band Competition, and have been featured on KCFR’s “Locally Sourced” radio program. Their debut album “Special Shade of Blue” was released in 2020 to critical acclaim. The band continues to write and perform across Colorado.
