Julian Peterson

After 7 years cutting his teeth in the competitive NYC music circuit, Julian came back to his home state of Colorado to pursue a different type of music career- one that didn't revolve around himself. The return led to stints at Red Rocks and national tours, making a budding name for himself as a sideman and producer.

Living in his hometown of Hygiene, CO, he has co-founded an artist collective/label aptly named Wolf Den Records, to support the artists he has produced. Artists like Carolyn Hunter and her synthy bedroom pop to Black Moon Howl's psychedelic blues rock show that there's always room in the breadth of styles he produces.  Lately he's been tapping into his early love and devotion to the blues, developing/producing/playing guitar for Colorado's own legendary blues singer Erica Brown, in support of her tribute album to blues pioneer Big Mama Thornton.

What has been brewing on the back burners is a tasty set of original songs, slated to release in summer of 2025. His first single, a soulful yet artful tune called "The Wreckage," was written over the span of 10 years - before, during and after a relationship ended, showcasing his deep devotion to the craft of writing a good song. In this song he is able to articulate the painful realization that "sometimes you can see the wreckage, before the crash."

FoCoMX has shown its dedication to true artists, and Peterson has been no stranger to it after playing years and years with Megan Burtt, Carolyn Hunter, Black Moon Howl and now Erica Brown. With a rich history of being behind the scene in Colorado's music scene, we're excited to uncover the veil of this artist's full potential, playing his own music, at Colorado's favorite music festival.
