skozi.b

skozi.b is the solo project of Jacob Hoeffner, bassist of Ms. Nomer, Carlie Anne, Swamp Candle, and Zoe Berman. Best grouped into the Nu Jazz genre, the material for the project was written on a bass guitar and vintage electric keyboards in Jacob’s apartment in Denver, CO. A years worth of writing in 2023 culminated in a 17 track “sentimental beat tape” titled Wind Chimes in Traffic, which was released on January 5, 2024. Inspired by childhood themes, skozi.b uses nostalgic samples (video games, field recordings) that complement the syncopated rhythms and driving bass lines. The beat tape will be recorded live on February 17, 2024 in Denver, CO with Jonah Greene (Ms. Nomer, Write Minded) on drums, Luke Maxson (shluke) on synthesizers, and Mickey Lenny (Amoramora) on trumpet. Songs from the record were written in a basic AB form with complimentary melodies and room for improvisation.
