Carl Alexander and Charlie Stevens

Playing originals and covers, Charlie Stevens and Carl Alexander skillfully navigate an entertaining mix of Americana, rock and roll, bluegrass, reggae, soul, jazz and classical. With 2 acoustic guitars, a mandolin and a bass, that's 24 strings, 2 voices and 20 fingers, 2 generations of veteran musicians come together to create a rich, original sound. And sometimes a little humor. Both seasoned songwriters and combined, leaders of numerous bands across 5 decades and all 58 states. Well, almost anyway. But who's counting?

Charlie doesn't like to brag, but he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado first in his class, straight A's, in Music Performance with a dual emphasis in classical and bluegrass guitar. He has played with many bands and musicians at notable venues in Connecticut, Colorado and the mountain west. Charlie currently teaches music and plays in several acts including the bands Titonic and his own The Charlie Stevens Band, an on the rise bluegrass phenom.

Carl doesn't like to brag either, in fact he didn't even want to write this bio. But he has written for and played in over 40 bands in Colorado including Big Pants, Lazy Bones, I Know Jack, Second Hand Smokers, Mighty Zion and currently SLA Revival and Sol Pride with Carlton Pride. He has also performed live with WAR, Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck and The Flecktones), JD Blair (Shania Twain, Lyle Lovett), Andy Powell (Wishbone Ash) and Tony and Sonia Allen(Natti Lovejoys, Max Romeo, Lee Scratch Perry, The Congos), and opened up for Steel Pulse, The Wailers and Merle Saunders. Carl also used to retrofit and maintain guitars for customers like Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen and Pat Metheny as Production Manager at TransPerformance, now Axecent Tuning self tuning guitars. Carl also teaches music, but not as much as Charlie.
