Jason Buchanan & The Short Timers

Raised in Southeast Texas and steeped in church and community music from an early age, Jason Lenyer Buchanan spent years writing songs alongside a full-time career. In 2021 he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where life on the high plains reshaped his songwriting. Working with Nashville producer Joel Rousseau, he released the album Crooked Rivers (2023) and the EP Under a Thumbnail Moon (2025), both written in Wyoming.

In Cheyenne he formed Jason Buchanan & The Short Timers with Brian Hiltner (fiddle), Marcus Gallizzi (upright bass), and Aric Hageman (drums). The band performs regularly throughout the Mountain West and now the Pacific Northwest. Though Jason has since moved to Portland, Oregon, the high plains remain at the heart of his music. He was named a 2026 Easyfolk Featured Artist and is at work on his next album, Somewhere in Between.
