Half Maxx

Half Maxx is a Denver funk/fusion band born from many late-night jam sessions. Featuring Max Palzewicz a/k/a "Max on Sax" on tenor sax, keys, and lead vocals, Joe Gallo on electric guitar, Teo Vanovski on drums, and Max Hass on bass and vocals, this four-piece band is half Max, half not…and all funk. The band has made a statement in the Denver music scene since its debut show in March 2022. Half Maxx's sound, with sets that include original songs and unique approaches to familiar songs, is rooted in the musicians' jazz and funk training, and blends in elements of R&B and rock to get audiences listening closely while also dancing and singing along. Half Maxx has supported touring acts such as Garaj Mahal, Mike Dillon and Punkadelic, and Kick the Cat at Cervantes' Other Side, played two nights back-to-back at Sheridan Opera House in Telluride, and performed alongside other Denver artists at Globe Hall, Your Mom's House, Enigma Bazaar, and others. The members of Half Maxx are also deeply involved in the local music scene, actively participating in the many jam sessions around Denver and performing regularly with Dzirae Gold, Jesh Yancey & the High Hopes, Britt Devens, Danette Hollowell, Jason Brandt & the Build-Out, and many more.

In 2023, Half Maxx released its debut recording, an EP titled Electricity, containing three originals - two featuring Max Palzewicz on lead vocals - and an instrumental cover of Janet Jackson's "Any Time, Any Place." The band is currently writing new material.
