John Daniel Berning

My name's John Daniel Berning, I'm a folk/singer-songwriter living in Breckenridge, Colorado. I'm a former high school teacher from Indiana, relocated to Coloardo in the fall of 2020. I am self-taught and began singing and learning guitar during COVID - in the summer of 2021 I was encouraged by some friend to begin attending local open mic nights and quickly grew in the local music scene here in Summit County. I've been gigging around Colorado for 3 years now and play almost 100 shows per year. I released by debut album Time to Mend last year, and my single "When I Die" is over 30,000 streams on Spotify. My next studio project is currently in the works.

I've played shows in Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon, Georgetown, Fairplay, Beuna Vista, Denver, Crested Butte, Steamboat Springs, Hayden, etc.

My style is singer-songwriter and folk, though some of my songs have a bigger sound and can be easily converted into 5 or 6 piece folk rock songs. While most of my shows are solo, very stripped down and intimate, I can also put together extremely talented full-band lineups for bigger shows.

I am inspired by a wide range of artists including The Beatles, Tom Petty, the Avett Brothers, Jack Johnson, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Gregory Alan Isakov, Caamp, the Lumineers, etc.
