Saved By Aliens

Saved By Aliens, the boundary-pushing experimental trio, has unleashed their mesmerizing new album, DIA Sessions.  Pioneering a unique fusion of rock, jazz, and interstellar soundscapes, Saved By Aliens transports listeners on a cosmic journey of sonic exploration.

Led by bass virtuoso Jonathan Bohannon, alongside the mesmerizing saxophone wizardry of Troy Thill and the rhythmic precision of drummer Joe Sorchic, Saved By Aliens is known for their captivating performances and genre-defying compositions. DIA Sessions promises to be their most ambitious and compelling work to date.

Inspired by the transformative power of music, Jonathan Bohannon shares, "Music is therapy. No matter what kind of mood I was in, it was as though Miles Davis would be speaking to me, embodying every emotion. I wanted to create music that could offer that same experience to our listeners." The music of Saved By Aliens conveys a profound emotional depth that resonates with audiences on a profound level.

The inception of DIA Sessions came following a head injury that left Jonathan relearning basic functions. He and drummer Willliam Foster Jr. would jam together, not thinking about what they were playing, but simply playing from the heart. Little did they know that Foster had secretly recorded those sessions, and upon sharing the recordings with Jonathan, an incredible revelation occurred. Jonathan recalls, "I said, 'Who is this you’re playing with? They are killing it!' He said, 'This is you.' I realized I had to retrain my brain."

After witnessing the positive impact their music had on people, Jonathan and Troy Thill, who had previously collaborated with in other bands, decided to form Saved By Aliens as a trio — now with drummer Joe Sorchic. They hit the local music scene, playing live shows and receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. However, fate had another twist in store for Jonathan when a severe arm injury left him unable to play for months. Undeterred, he underwent surgery and embarked on the arduous journey of relearning his instrument. After months of determination and perseverance, Jonathan was back in action, and the band began recording DIA Sessions a year and a half after his surgery.

DIA Sessions is a transcendent sonic experience, blending otherworldly melodies with intricate harmonies and ethereal textures. Jonathan Bohannon's compositional prowess is on full display as the album weaves together themes of cosmic exploration, resilience, and the intrinsic connection between all beings. From the mesmerizing interludes to the awe-inspiring crescendos, each track is a testament to Saved By Aliens' artistic vision.
