Johnny Speaks

Hailing from Chicago IL, Johnny Speaks is a plant geneticist by day and can be found at Fort Collins’ open mics on weeknights. His smooth, bluegrass-y, rock 'n' roll songwriting style was inspired by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Billy Strings, John Lee Hooker and Trey Anastasio. John found his love for music playing drums in his garage for hours after school every day as a teenager. Limited by space and noise restrictions, John picked up guitar in college and began writing his own songs but never performing. After moving to Fort Collins, CO from Athens, GA in 2022, John performed for the first time at The Atrium and found a new passion. Having now played in Fort Collins’ open mic scene at The Coast, The Lyric, Lucky Joes, and can be found most often performing at The Atrium, FoCoMX will be his first festival.
