Erica Brown

Erica Brown has long been a mainstay in Colorado’s Music scene. Since 1998 she has been singing and living the blues. Throughout her career her band has been voted Best Blues Band (Westword Magazine) Best Underground Blues Band (Denver Post, multiple years), and a quick internet search will show that she's played with more heavy-hitting blues musicians than you can count.

Fast forward to 2025, and she's partnered with producer and guitarist Julian Peterson on a new project, as a tribute to the great Big Mama Thornton.  Together they've re-imagined her songs, often adding soul influences and even digging deeper into the African influences in which blues was founded on.  They were able to debut those songs at the 2023 Greeley Blues Jam festival, opening up for Louisiana guitarist Tab Benoit.  Just last year Rocky Mountain PBS invited her and Julian into their studio, for an interview and performance, and talks of doing a full-blown documentary are underway.

If you saw her performance at 2024's FoCoMX at the Magic Rat, you would be surprised to know that the Magic Rat is still standing, as she and her band brought the house down. For an artist to do that without the audience knowing the songs, is not normal. She also headlined a packed show later in 2024 at the Armory in Fort Collins. 2024 was the tinder that lit the fire for an artist like Erica Brown to rise to the spotlight she deserves. Keep an ear our for her new EP titled "Willie Mae Sings Willie Mae" set to release summer 2025.
