Foxxes

Foxxes is a Vocal Post Rock Four Piece formed in Denver, CO in 2014.  Composers of brooding, cinematic songs without regard to pop convention, they span the gamut of Rock’s dark side from Radiohead’s pretentious moodiness, Interpol’s driving grooves, the sonic density of My Bloody Valentine, and the angular textures of King Crimson and Sonic youth.

Debuting hard rock and psychedelic singles Into the Sea and Continental Divider on cassette in 2015, they quickly established themselves in the local scene at venues such as Hi-Dive, Lost Lake, and Syntax Physic Opera.  By 2017 they released their eponymous LP (Foxxes), expanding their range of live performances by opening for acts such as Geographer and Billy Changer. They began receiving airplay on CPR’s Indie 102.3 and KTCL 93.3 while adding local festivals to their list, including Denver’s Underground Music Showcase (UMS).

They turned back to the studio in 2018, lugging equipment to a Colorado mountain cabin in winter to record their sophomore LP, Firestarter.  The album showed a darker, moodier sound while the band began thinking in terms of more cinematic performances.  The music delved into more complex explorations of mental health and fragile relationships, while still circling Foxxes core concern for our natural environment.

2019 saw the band back in the studio to record the third record.  Wanting to dig even deeper into more challenging styles and topics, they laid down the basic tracks for what would become a 5 year odyssey of personal struggles and life changes for the members.  A long hiatus set in early 2020, not broken until 2023, with brief side project Color Clinic, recalling the roots of Foxxes’ music.

Taking advantage of renewed energy and momentum, Foxxes have returned to their 2019 tracks, channeling 5 years of trauma and transformation to produce their deepest, most experimental and most emotional album yet.  Releasing over the second half of 2024, Foxxes presents their third LP, Cracked.  An album length tone poem reflecting on the band’s challenges and rebirth through the dark years of the pandemic.  Alongside it, they are hitting the road with an ambitious live show tying together the album’s themes of isolation, anxiety, and fear with those of change, opportunity, and hope.
