Dylanovus

Dylanovus is your friendly neighborhood indie pop artist! Born Dylan Lee Anthony, Dylanovus started writing songs as an outlet for his teenage angst while growing up in Arizona. He relocated to Denver, Colorado in late 2020 to follow his lifelong dreams of making music. In the spirit of reinventing himself, he chose the stage name “Dylanovus,” combining his name with “novus,” the Latin word for “reborn.” In May 2022, he dropped his first single, a lovestruck pop tune called “Autopilot (Dreamin’).” The next summer, he released the sultry track “Locomotion,” giving listeners a taste of his 2024 EP, Fantasy. As a neurodivergent person with ADHD, Dylanovus was daunted by the idea of completing a long-form project, so he forged his own path by putting out two companion EPs instead of a traditional debut album.

Fantasy is half of a two-part project following the life cycle of a relationship. Nightmares, the second act that came a few months later, picks up where Fantasy ended, although each EP also tells a complete story on its own. Like in his youth, Dylanovus wrote these conceptual projects as a therapeutic way to process his own emotions and experiences. Fantasy portrays the honeymoon phase of a romance with Dylanovus’s upbeat pop sound, while the brooding follow-up Nightmares leans into anthemic rock as the breakup unfolds. While he primarily considers himself an indie pop artist, he draws inspiration from alt-rock, dance, synth pop, new wave, and pop punk. Influenced by versatile and inventive artists like Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles, his music taps into the nostalgia of mid-2000s hits.

To close out 2024, Dylanovus partnered with BandWagon Presents to headline an EP release show for Nightmares at The Black Buzzard. Though he’s serious about his art, he never takes himself too seriously, often using his self-deprecating humor to connect with audience members. Wardrobe changes, dad jokes, Olivia Rodrigo covers and impromptu guitar solos are all fair game at a Dylanovus show! In 2025, he looks forward to charming more audiences and dreaming up new feel-good anthems to satisfy the soul.
