Smear
Greeley, Colorado based artist Cam Carter and Eugene, Oregon based artist Brendrix Paige connected in 2010 over a mutual interest in late 80's and 90's indie rock. The two formed the Smear Collective, playing and touring the Pacific Northwest and West Coast.
A focus on lo-fi and analog recording techniques launched the band's tape only release, "smear tape," recorded in Austin, TX in 2013. The band took a deeper dive into analog, recording live at Gung Ho Studios (Yob, Cherry Poppin' Daddies) to 2" tape on 2016's 7" single "MBC b/w The Kill."
In 2018, beautiful bassist Yonboi Gonzalez joined, with drummer Tater Chesnut manning the throne soon thereafter.
The foursome then released a demo EP, 2019's "A Band Called Shmear." Support shows included psych rockers "Frankie and the Witch Fingers", "Floater", and power trio "Lespecial." Numerous live recorded sets for college radio, Locals Live, Tracktown Studios, Sugartop Buddery, and an ever memorable set at Cheeba Hut in Eugene, OR for 4/20.
Upcoming debut LP "Champagne" is slated to release October 31st, 2025; recorded at Ruby Machine Studios in Portland, OR (Smashing Pumpkins, Blackwater Holylight). The record was mixed by former Growlers bassist/drummer/engineer Scott Montoya.
