Khature
In this superficial age of entertainment, the consumer has been trained to focus on the packaging of the product over the quality of the product. Comparatively, this way of thinking has stripped the true essence away from hip-hop for over a decade now. For this reason, we are witnessing Hip Hop's return ushered in by a Philadelphia bred artist by the name of Khature (酷尚).
During what many describe as the "Golden Era" in hip-hop: Khature developed a passion for music very young, from singing and harmonizing with her older sisters to using pots and pans as drums with her older brother. Khature started out playing the piano after her grandmother bought her a Casio keyboard one Christmas. Inevitably by the young age of 15, her understanding of music composition led to her writing, producing and engineering. The Philadelphia High School for Girls alumna went on to obtain her bachelors degree from Delaware State University, and has been dedicated to making her mark in the music industry.
Khature grew up during a time in hip-hop where female emcees throughly represented women in music all across the world. Having asserted such power and influence in a male dominated genre, she is heavily influenced by the likes of Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill, Eve, H.E.R. and Nicki Minaj just to name a few. Khature combines her inspiration, musical talent, and unorthodox flow, with her ability to speak Chinese. Khature is passionate about reinstalling the values of Hip-Hop culture as well as helping to shape and develop Asian Hip-Hop culture. Khature has performed at local high schools, and fashion shows, she has even performed at Delaware State University's football stadium. Not to mention, setting the stage for Jeezy, 2 Chainz, and Elle Varner at her alma mater's homecoming.
Accomplishing these goals early on has only intensified her drive to set a new precedent in music. With a classic self produced hiphop album under her belt 'Gheesh' and an R&B project 'The Make Up', it's highly recommended that one take note of this artist. Her talent level alongside her dedication to creating grade A music has cemented her destiny as a star in the Hip-Hop constellation we admire so greatly.
