Echo Vocation

Echo Vocation is the latest music project from Denver-based instrumentalist and producer Adrian Johnson. Echo Vocation is sometimes described as “Boards of Canada meets David Gilmour with an Atticus Ross influence”. After playing viola in orchestra as a youth, then focusing on electric guitar and electric violin in college, Adrian was passionate about finding novel ways to incorporate traditional instruments within new contexts. His recent material spans ambient to synthwave to downtempo - with occasional allusions to progressive rock (he played in the Colorado-based prog rock band Edifice). Adrian uses modular synths to help make the backing instruments more improvisational during live performances (some synths interact with his guitar) and to make the evolving soundscape more immersive for the audience. Adrian brings experience with sound design and soundtrack work to his live performances.
