JOHNNY SCREWBAGS BRING THE RIOT WITH DEBUT ALBUM DEAD BALLOONS — A FIERCE, POLITICALLY CHARGED NU METAL ASSAULT FROM DENVER’S BLEED MOXIE.
Denver’s music scene is about to detonate. Introducing Johnny Screwbags, the blistering new nu metal project fronted by Denver's bleed moxie (aka Mitchel Paulson), a longtime underground hip hop mainstay and former Twin Cities heavyweight. Their debut album, Dead Balloons, is a sonic powder keg — loud, angry, urgent — and it drops with teeth bared and fists raised, led by the explosive lead single, "Neighbors Bleed", scheduled for release locally on Another Dead Boyfriend Records on 11/14/25.
After relocating from St. Paul to Denver three years ago, bleed moxie quickly made waves with his solo album women’s society, a genre-bending, lyrically dense release that earned critical praise from 303 Magazine, airplay on Indie 102.3, and a coveted performance slot at Denver Fashion Week. Now, he’s channeling his energy into something heavier, darker, and even more unapologetic.
The band is a shape-shifting collective built around Mitchel’s vision, with a revolving door of Denver talent stepping into the chaos. Studio engineer and co-vocalist Hunter Holland (CCM Studios on Colfax) plays a key role in shaping the band’s sound. The rest of the lineup remains under wraps --for now-- but includes a who's who of Denver musicians from some of the most recognized and respected bands in town.
