k8ie
k8ie (a.k.a Katie Cunningham) is a 27-year-old, queer, multi-hyphenate musician based in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is currently preparing her debut EP, in collaboration with Plaid Dog Recording, for a Spring 2026 release. k8ie is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer, and producer, with over ten years of experience under her belt. She is an early graduate of NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music (2020) and the 2019 recipient of BMI’s John Lennon Award for original composition on her song, Drifting Away (2018).
This current artistic project is her most ambitious endeavor yet, an EP precursor to her debut album. The collection of songs span an array of topics from infatuation to infidelity to yearning to her disdain toward artificial “intelligence” and the current western descent into fascism. She found inspiration in Sasha Keable’s vulnerable lyricism, D’Angelo’s swirling, stacked harmonies, and Lianne La Havas’ intimate vocals and dynamic instrumental arrangements.
k8ie is a dedicated student of R&B music and the craft of musicianship as a whole. She greatly values community and collaboration, and bolstering her privilege as a white woman to speak up for and amplify marginalized voices. She is deeply looking forward to releasing this project and bringing people into the world of “classified."
