Smiley Gatmouth is a ukulele-wielding rapper who came up amidst a golden era of Denver poetry. Marked by wit, profound lyricism and endearing vulnerability, his work stands out to staunch hip hop heads and fans of emotionally moving music in general.
Gatmouth graduated form the University of Wisconsin Madison as a recipient of the First Wave Urban Arts Scholarship. He has shared stages with artists including Common, Talib Kweli and Atmosphere. His work has been featured on HBO, PBS and pitchfork radio. Underground hip hop legend MURS once described him as “one of the greatest MCs in the world.”
