Hurricane Dave and the Storm Chasers

I am a 48-year harmonica player who was named as a finalist by Colorado Blues Society for best harmonica player in Colorado in 2023. I lost to Nic Clark. LUV NICK!

My journey started at age 9 as a drummer in a Fife and Drum Corps the Morris County Militia in NJ. There is video of me playing on YouTube at age 14.

I was a closet harmonica player for 19 years. I only sat in with one band the entire time. I did have a friend who I invited over on a summer day, and I had the windows open. He was supposed to hear from him about a 1/2 hour from when I called him. About an hour later he knocked on the door. He said he was blown away and was sitting outside listening to me play for over a 1/2 hour. We went to a party, and he told me to bring my harps. By accident a guitarist on acoustic was there playing. He took one look at me and said what's in the box? I said Harmonicas. He said let's do Going to California. We were a hit and played for hours.

I moved to Colorado in 1994 and had a new neighbor who was in a band called Thunder MTN. house band at Cowboys in Colorado Springs for 5 years when it was out on LaSalle and Academy Blvd. They were playing a fund raiser at Tres Hombres in Woodland Park. I got called up to sit in for a number or so I thought. We played a song to rousing applause. I was packing up my harps when the lead singer said let's do another one. During my second solo he walked up to me and whispered in my ear. I don't know who the #*$* you are but you're in this Band! I went on to learn 300 songs. We opened for so many national acts it was crazy. Some of that list includes, Kenny Chesney, Kieth Urban, Marshall Tucker, George Strait, Jewel. That band has some retire and I became a part time player with the High Trail Riders for bit.

I then moved on to producing a National Blues Act and was a sideman with Chaz DePaolo. We won a Global Music award for Resolution Blues. www.smoketonerecords.com. I met and played with members of the Delaware Destroyers, Jewel, Commander Cody (George Frayne) and the Lost Planet Airmen. Bob Livingston of Jerry Jeff Walker Fame. Bobby Burns of Lynard Skynyrd heard me play and he became a student for a time.

I started hearing my own music and started writing songs with my Engineer / Producer Jason Hickman at Prodigal Production Studios in Parker which is where we are really based. Our music video on Blooze BlowDown as Hurricane Dave and the Storm Chasers was named Top Ten for Finalist in Blues Blast Magazine in 2022 on our song Claire- Starbright. We lost to Eric Gales and Joe Bonamassa. LOL!
