The Grippe
The Grippe is a legendary Northern Colorado funk organ trio hailing from Fort Collins. Anchored by deep-pocket grooves, gritty Hammond organ tones, and a fearless improvisational spirit, The Grippe blends classic soul-jazz, greasy funk, and psychedelic flair into a sound that’s equal parts throwback and forward-looking.
Featuring Walter Hannah (organ), Stu Crair (drums) and Charlie Humphreys (guitar, vocals), The Grippe was founded in 2008 and has received critical acclaim for their self-titled album. The band has gone onto share the stage with funk heavyweights such as Lettuce, Soulive, The Motet, ALO, The New Mastersounds, Bustle in your Hedgerow and more.
Known for locking in hard and stretching out live, the trio has earned a reputation across the Front Range for turning any room into a dance floor and any set into a journey. Rooted in Fort Collins but steeped in groove traditions, The Grippe is Northern Colorado funk at full strength.
