Wayne Russell
Wayne Russell grew up in New Jersey, where songwriting first took hold, but it was the mountains that ultimately shaped his musical voice. After heading west for a lift season at A-Basin, Wayne fell in love with Colorado’s high country and made the move permanent in the 1990s.
Rooted in folk traditions and storytelling, Wayne is a seasoned singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose music reflects a life shaped by movement, community, and landscape. He has served as lead singer and guitarist for several Colorado-based projects, including Medicine Man, The Classics, and the Colorado Goat Ropers Guild, performing throughout Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Summit County.
Drawing influence from the thoughtful lyricism of Paul Simon, the free-spirited Americana of New Riders of the Purple Sage, and the sharp songwriting edge of Elvis Costello, Wayne’s songs balance melody, insight, and emotional honesty. His performances carry an easy authenticity—songs that feel lived-in, shaped by mountain towns, long roads, and years of connecting with audiences who appreciate roots-driven music.
With a voice that’s both expressive and grounded, and a deep respect for the folk tradition, Wayne Russell continues to craft songs that resonate with heart, place, and purpose.
