The Lucky Valentines

“Everything about this album is REAL, from the cover, to the lyrics, the rough and penetrating performances, and the warm and inviting SOUND. Shaun and Jamie’s music will get to you and make you play it again and again. Let it.”
— Grammy Nominated musician Phil Aaberg (on TLV's 2020 release “Horses”)
They met playing music 17 years ago and sparks flew. When she heard his incredible songwriting and singular guitar playing she said “I want that one”. Within days, they were trading songs and writing new ones, blending sounds both unique and familiar. It didn’t take long to see that their lives were destined to be entangled forever. So, they made it official and brought forth a gaggle of children, while continuing to write, travel, homeschool, and snuggle. Every day they are driven to dig deeper into all of it, experiencing the world around them in a very visceral way that compels them to “Make Sad Things Beautiful”.
Their most recent album, “Losses” is full of sorrow and hope, growth and magic. Produced by Josh Kaufman (The National, Taylor Swift, Bonny Light Horseman, Josh Ritter), it seeps authenticity and emotion - ranging from the loss of family, parents, and lifestyle, to the soaring joy of being Loved.
They’ve amassed an impressive, hours long repitiore of original music that is a mix of folk melodic sensibilities, tight harmonies, and a whole lotta love. Their sound could be bottled up as “Bruce Springsteen and Patty Griffin meet Shovels and Rope in a Gypsy Junkshop”. He sometimes uses a thirdhand suitcase as a kick drum, and the rotary phone from her father’s shop as a mic. She blends classical violin with raging folk passion. He channels John Prine and Hank Williams.
They have been featured on NPR's Mountain Stage, MTPR’s Musician Spotlight, performed at a Montana showcase at Americana fest 2022 in Nashville TN and have been featured on the Emmy award winning MTPBS program 11th and Grant with Dr. Eric Funk. They have performedat Austin’s Iconic Hole in the Wall Cafe, the side stage of Red Ants Pants Music Festival as well as support slots for national touring acts Laney Wilson, Anna Tivel, Jeffery Foucault and Cruz Contreras. They have also been semi finalists in the international songwriting competition twice.
With songs that range from intimate listeners to danceable toe tappers they aim to forge meaningful connections and bring light to peoples' hearts. They have played hundreds of live shows together and have been featured on MTPR’s Musician Spotlight, at Austin’s Iconic Hole in the Wall Cafe, the side stage of Red Ants Pants Music Festival, and were featured in the 2022 season of MTPBS’s award winning 11th and Grant with Eric Funk.
