Sofia Gillani

I’m Sofia Gillani, an independent avant‑garde pop and soul artist based in London — writing, producing, and directing every part of my music myself. My journey began at age nine, when I starred in the lead role of Evita, singing “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” across a four‑night run at the Olivier Awards. That early stage experience lit a fire that’s guided me ever since.

Drawing inspiration from Sia, Adele, and Ariana Grande, I’ve carved out a sound that blends soulful vocal power with bold, experimental pop production and deeply personal storytelling. I released my debut single Ain’t a Game in 2020 with a self‑directed animated video that earned recognition at film festivals, followed by singles including Water Run Dry, Levels, Read Your Mind, and Chains — all featured on BBC Introducing. My debut album Reconceptualize arrived in 2026, capturing my artistic evolution and journey of self‑discovery.

I’ve performed across the UK at venues and festivals including O2 Academy Islington, Westfield London, Luton Pride, Haslemere Fringe, and the Southbank Centre — where I’ve also raised funds for causes close to my heart. As a proudly British‑Pakistani, queer woman in music, I make music not just to entertain, but to show others they don’t have to shrink themselves to fit in. I exist fully — and so can they.
