FoCoMA Town Hall Recap
Thank you to the music community members who joined our Music Industry Town Hall on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. It was a wonderful conversation on how we can grow our music scene together.
Three cheers to Music City Hot Chicken North for providing a delicious dinner, and to our annual sponsors for helping make this event possible. Most of all thank YOU for being such a heart-centric, solution-oriented group. We gathered wonderful feedback and ideas to inform the future of local music! We recognize FoCoMA is just one part of our vast music eco-system here in Fort Collins. We loved holding space for the conversation and the envisioning process on how we grow together. Thank you to the many folks who stepped up to the plate with offers to share their spaces, talents, knowledge and tools. We’re greatly looking forward to see how the feedback and insights from our session gets utilized into your own small businesses and organizations too.
Some of the things FoCoMA is hoping to implement in 2025 and beyond are:
- Building out our Colorado Music Directory to include music informed health providers, luthiers, vocal coaches, and other trusted resources.
- Fostering more live performance opportunities
- Facilitating opportunities for musicians to connect including finding people to play with, gear swaps and staying healthy.
- Creating more hands-on workshops on the business side of music.
- Supporting artist development to enhance musicianship, performances and tours.
- Find ways musicians can be engaged civically and in planning processes.
We're spearheading a follow-up focus/ advocacy group of key stakeholders (hint that’s you) to work on tangible ways we can all build an even stronger local music industry that represents Fort Collins musician's voices.
